Western Red Cedar Decking

Description
A real giant of a tree, The Western Red Cedar (Thuja Plicata) is available in wide boards and is very easy to work. The lovely scent can remain in the wood especially when used in confined spaces.
Very durable and much used internally and externally for joinery. Especially good for houses as it withstands almost any climatic condition. Western Red Cedar contains natural preservative oils and therefore does not require pressure treating like other softwoods.

Maintenance
A deck that dries after wetting will last longer than one that stays damp. Good maintenance practices for Cedar decks include allowing proper water drainage; keeping the surface free of dirt, leaves, pine-needles and other debris; and moving planters, benches and other deck accessories from time to time to permit the deck beneath them to dry thoroughly.
